Forfar boss Dick Campbell has revealed he is attempting to secure former loan signing Bryan Deasley on a permanent basis.
Deasley scored the goal which clinched Forfar’s promotion to the second division in a play-off game against Arbroath last month, and Campbell would like nothing better than for the Dundee striker to remain at Station Park next season.
However, the situation is complicated by the fact that, despite being told by Dark Blues boss Gordon Chisholm to seek alternative employment, the 22-year-old still has a year left on his contract at Dens.
“I would take Bryan Deasley in a minute,” admitted Campbell.
“I spoke to Chis about him last week and have offered Bryan a deal but he needs to get something sorted out at Dundee.”
Campbell is looking to conduct other signing business in the next few days with players currently at the club as well as attempting to bring in some new faces.
However, he denied reports linking him with a move for Montrose striker John Gemmell.
“In the next week or so, I am hoping to officially sign up the existing 14 or 15 players at the club on new contracts,” added Campbell.
“I am in the process of looking for goalkeepers and anybody else who is better than I already have in the hope of bringing them in before we start back for pre-season on June 22.
“But I can definitely state that I am not trying to sign John Gemmell.”
