Dundee FC hope to find the missing ingredient

Dundee boss Barry Smith is hoping his players can regain their scoring touch at Queen of the South.

The Dark Blues created enough chances to win three games last week against Hamilton but couldn’t covert any of them and ended up losing out to a smash-and-grab second-half goal. Now, as they prepare to face Gus MacPherson’s Queens outfit, Smith has called on his players to add the finishing touches the rest of their play merits.

He said: ”We want to go into the international break with a victory. However, we are aware just how difficult it will be against Queen of the South. They have already beaten two teams at the top of the league in Morton and Hamilton.

”They are capable of winning against anyone on their day so we are under no illusions. Gus MacPherson will have them organised and determined so we will have to match that, keep creating chances and taking them.

”That is something we have worked heavily on this week. So we will keep doing what we have been doing and hopefully pick up a good win.”

Smith is keeping his fingers crossed that his squad will be bolstered by the return of two key players from injury.

”Graham Bayne and Neil McGregor trained this morning so we will just have to wait and see if they suffer a reaction,” he said. ”It would be good to have them in the squad for Saturday but we have to be careful we don’t rush them back so we will make a decision closer to the time.”
