Dundee are hoping that one of the players under contract at the club who has been told to seek alternative employment could soon be on the move.
Maros Klimpl was one of the club’s highest-profile signings last season when he put to pen to paper on a three-year deal in August.
There were high hopes that the experienced Slovakia international and former Motherwell player would help propel Dundee to promotion.
However, after an initial impressive set of matches under then boss Jocky Scott, Klimpl suffered a setback at the end of October when he underwent knee surgery.
He struggled to make the same impact after recovering from his op, and new boss Gordon Chisholm decided the midfielder was surplus to requirements.
Klimpl and two other contracted players, Richie Hart and youngster Bryan Deasley, were told they would not be playing for the Dark Blues next season and should look for other clubs.
Hart signed for Swedish side Ostersunds last weekend on a six-month loan deal and Klimpl who is believed to be one of the highest earners in the Dundee squad could soon be following him out the door.Pre-season returnCommercial director Harry MacLean said, “Maros and Bryan are still on the list issued by the manager of players free to find other clubs.
“I know that Maros is actively looking for another club. Although he has been told he will not be part of the manager’s plans, he is a decent lad and not the sort of player who will sit around doing nothing while picking up a wage packet.
“I believe he is looking for a move back to Slovakia or the Czech Republic.
“But, as things stand, Maros and Bryan will both be coming back for the start of pre-season training on June 25.”
He added, “Bryan is in a different situation. Forfar, who had him on loan last season, seem to be interested in taking him back but money is very tight in the Scottish game at the moment and he still has a year left on his deal at Dundee.
“Our manager returns from holiday next week and we will see what develops then.”
