Arbroath manager Paul Sheerin has pledged that he will piece together a strong enough squad for next season, though he admitted to becoming frustrated over making signings.
Although Sheerin has succeeded in holding on to a string of out-of-contract players, thus far Danny Griffin has been his only fresh capture leaving around six vacancies to fill.
The player-manager said, “When it comes to bringing in new faces I’m having to be more patient than I expected I’d have to be.
“I don’t think I’m being too picky but, between players holding off making a decision and others being away on holiday, it’s proving a frustrating experience.
“But I have a list that I’m working my way down and we will get there.”
Meanwhile, a couple of familiar faces have been asked to report for pre-season training at Brechin City.
New Glebe Park boss Jim Weir has invited former Morton midfielder Alex Walker, who had an injury-hit loan spell at the club last season, in for training along with centre-half David White who was released by Brechin earlier this year after a double leg break.
Weir is also hoping to hear positive news about bringing former favourite Darren Smith back to the club from Raith Rovers, saying, “Darren has promised to give me an answer as soon as he returns from his holidays.
“I am sure he will have other offers but we would like to see him back at Brechin.”
