Courier Sport understands Dunfermline manager Jim McIntyre is to contest a notice of complaint issued by the SFA following comments he made after his side’s match at Ibrox last Saturday.
McIntyre is believed to have been given the offer of accepting a two-match touchline ban for accusing referee Steve Conroy of having a ”nightmare” game that included the awarding of a penalty which he described as a ”really poor decision”.
But McIntyre is now set to appeal and fight his case on December 22.
Ironically, the Rangers player allegedly fouled in the build-up to the penalty award, Sone Aluko, had his two-match ban for diving upheld on Thursday.
The decision was made by the SFA’s fast-track tribunal at Hampden after Rangers rejected the offer of a fixed suspension when Aluko was issued with a notice of complaint.
Aluko will miss SPL matches against Hibernian and Inverness.
The player had claimed contact had been made in the challenge with Martin Hardie and that referee Conroy made the correct decision to award the spot-kick.
Rangers manager Ally McCoist reacted furiously to news of Aluko’s ban.
He said: ”The three gentlemen on the panel have effectively called my player a cheat and a liar, neither of which he is.”
