Dundee boss Barry Smith has praised Gavin Rae for coming back to Dens Park without any airs or graces.
Rae may have played for Scotland, Rangers and latterly Cardiff City but he has just been one of the boys since returning to the Dark Blues for a second spell.
That is to his credit, according to Smith, who was team-mates with Rae in his first spell at the club.
”Gavin has been happy to muck in with the rest of the boys, which is very important,” said Smith. ”He is not ‘big time’ at all.
”There is no problem whatsoever and I think the players appreciate that he is a down-to-earth guy who is working every bit as hard as the rest of the team.”
Dundee return to league business in their quest to seal a return to the SPL when Livingston visit Dens this weekend.
Smith insists there is no point putting on a good show against Kilmarnock in the Scottish Cup then faltering against Gary Bollan’s men in the league.
He said: ”It was great that we played the way we did against Kilmarnock in the cup but it is back to the bread-and-butter stuff and we need to pick up three points.”
Dundee winger Nicky Riley, who missed the Killie cup clash, is still struggling to overcome a hamstring injury and is a doubt for the Livi game.
