Dundee manager Gordon Chisholm has given his trialists pass marks for fitness but will take his time before deciding whether to hand out contracts.
The Dark Blues have taken former Dundee United midfielder Stephen O’Donnell, ex-Celtic man Nicky Riley and Alloa’s Scott Buist in for summer training with a view to offering them deals if they impress.
“I have had a couple of the boys’ agents on asking me how they are doing but all I can say at the moment is that they are fit enough,” said Chisholm.
“We have been mainly working on fitness so far, although we have had the ball out a few times. So I can’t assess them further than that.
“Next week we will start doing a bit more and we have got a game organised so I can start looking a bit closer at them then.”
Meanwhile, goalkeeper Scott Fox is officially joining Dundee after signing a pre-contract earlier this summer.
The former Celtic man was priced out of a move by the Parkhead club last year but once he passes the age of 23 becomes a free agent.
While Fox arrives, Chisholm still hopes to strike a deal with Bryan Deasley to leave the club.
The Dundee gaffer has already moved on unwanted trio Richie Hart, Maros Klimpl and Chris Casement and has advised Deasley he is surplus to requirements.
Forfar are keen to take him on a full-time basis but that depends on whether he can agree a severance on the final year of his Dens contract.
“I have spoken to Bryan about it and he is going to go away and think about things,” added Chisholm.
