Dundee United’s glamour friendly with Everton tonight has been called off due to a waterlogged pitch although the two sides will try again tomorrow.
Fans determined to see David Moyes’ English Premier League stars in action face a wait after Tannadice officials decided the pitch was unplayable after constant overnight rain.
But United have confirmed that the friendly has been hastily rescheduled for Thursday evening, with the same 7.45pm kick-off.
With the projected forecast not much better for the rest of the day, United held a pitch inspection at 12.30pm to make an early call given the fact the Toffees were travelling north of the border specially for the occasion.
A club spokesman apologised for any inconvenience.
Admission prices had been set at just £10 for adults and £5 for concessions, and United had expected a large crowd as a result.More games offIt is a similar story at East End Park, where Dunfermline’s friendly against East Fife has been postponed until Thursday with a 7.30pm kick-off.
Arbroath’s home friendly with SPL side Motherwell, also scheduled for tonight, has been postponed because of the weather.
The game was due to be played at Gayfield but was called off around lunchtime.
No alternative date has been fixed for that one.
