Disgruntled Dundee United will be forced to switch two matches over the Christmas period.
Due to the vagaries of neighbours Dundee taking over the fixture list drawn up for Club 12 in the summer, both city sides were pencilled in by the SPL to play at home on Boxing Day and December 29.
That could not happen, of course, and it had been expected they would move one game each.
However, the intervention of TV has left the Tangerines with the festive blues.
ESPN will be showing the Dens club’s match against Celtic at 7.45pm on Boxing Day, meaning United will have to push their clash with St Johnstone to Thursday, December 27. The knock-on effect will see the Tannadice game against St Mirren, originally scheduled for the Saturday, take place on Sunday, December 30.
That means Dundee are the big winners, both with the televised game against Celtic and a home match against Aberdeen that will go on as planned in the prime Saturday at 3pm slot on the 29th.
On top of all this, the Tangerines already have two postponed matches to somehow fit into their schedule, away to both Celtic and Motherwell.
The festive fixture list will now read: Wednesday Dec 26: Dundee v Celtic; Thursday Dec 27: United v St Johnstone; Saturday Dec 29: Dundee v Aberdeen; Sunday Dec 30: United v St Mirren.
