No fast-track to SPL for Rangers, says Dundee United chief

There will be no quick-fix solution found to put Rangers into the SPL, according to Dundee United chairman Stephen Thompson.
A member of the SPL board, Thompson seems in little doubt that reconstruction won’t hasten the Ibrox club’s return to the top flight. Instead, it will be a long road back for the Light Blues.
”Rangers can’t be voted back in,” he said. ”They will have to earn their right by coming back up through the leagues.
“There’s no way the leagues will be reconstructed for them. They just can’t do it. It can’t be done. Well, it can be done but it can’t be done, if you know what I mean.”
Thompson also expressed a hope that a way can be found to change the SPL voting structure form the current 11-1 to 9-3 in the wake of no decision being made at the league get-together earlier this week.
”Unless we get the voting structure changed I can’t see anything happening at all,” he said. ”In an ideal world you would like to see everything changed at once, but I just can’t see how 11 clubs would agree on the size of leagues, money redistribution and voting.”
