Dundee will have to start making their away days pay if they are to keep their promotion dream alive.
That is the view of manager Gordon Chisholm, who is well aware of how the Dark Blues have toiled when on the road too many times this season.
They showed they can do it, though, when beating Partick Thistle at Firhill last Saturday to keep the pressure on league leaders Inverness Caley Thistle.
That victory took their number of away wins to four for the season, but with another three trips coming up starting at Morton on Saturday between now and the end of the campaign they will have to almost double their season total to have any chance of pipping the Highlanders, who are firm favourites for the championship.
“I have looked at the results over the season so far and we have not had a great away record,” said Chisholm.
“The team have not lost a great deal, but they have only won four times on the road all season.
“That record is something which will have to improve over the next month.
“All we can do is try to win our games and hope Caley slip up. That is going to take a massive effort from the players, but they showed they can win away from home last weekend against Partick.
“I can’t talk about what happened before I came here, but I felt we did okay up at Ross County and then again on Saturday.
“We have three away games from the last four, so to give ourselves any chance, we will have to do the business away from Dens Park.
“It is a bit strange that we have so many away games to end the season but that’s life and you just have to get on with it.
“Going to Morton will be difficult I was at their game against Ross County the other night but if we approach it like we did against Partick last weekend we will give ourselves a good chance.”
