DUNDEE UNITED manager Peter Houston believes Rudi Skacel is improving with every game and that he may extend his stay at Tannadice.
The Czech playmaker is only contracted to the Tangerines until January 30, when he is expected to return to his homeland to join Slavia Prague.
United fans haven’t quite seen the Skacel that the Hearts supporters got used to when he worked wonders for the Tynecastle team, but Houston is confident that the best is yet to come from the man who agreed a short-term deal in October.
The Tannadice boss said: “I am a big fan of Rudi and I would like to keep him until the end of the season. There is a decent chance that will happen.
“I certainly hope it does and Rudi himself also spoke about it when he first signed for us.
“Rudi is getting more like himself with every game. He is getting fitter and all he needs is one goal to really get going and set himself off on a wee run.
“He is trying hard enough and that isn’t the problem. So I am pleased with his form because he is working really hard for the team.
“He is an attack-minded player but he also grafts off the ball.
“What I like about him is that when he has the ball he hardly gives it away.
“He is filling in and doing a good job off the main two strikers (Jon Daly and Johnny Russell) so he deserves credit for that.”
