Rickie Lambert scored the winner with his first touch in international football as England edged the five-goal thriller.
Played in a superb atmosphere, and with a passion and intensity seldom seem even in friendlies, Scotland led twice, through James Morrison and Kenny Miller, only to be pegged back by Theo Walcott and Danny Welbeck before Lambert’s powerful header.
