Seven games now stand between Dundee and a place in the top six, and all the benefits and plaudits that would bring.
Of course, a lot can happen between now and the split, but one would assume the Dark Blues stand a decent chance of getting there if they can continue on their recent run of form.
At the very least, they will be optimistic of being either ahead of St Johnstone or within striking distance of their Tayside rivals when the two teams meet on April 11.
Having said that though, you feel that Paul Hartley’s men simply have to emerge from the next fortnight of fixtures relatively unscathed to keep their momentum going.
Back-to-back away games against the bottom two lie ahead and these will most certainly test Dundee’s mettle.
It will take performances like the one in Paisley last month to take maximum points from Motherwell and Ross County, although Dundee have shown on plenty of occasions this season that they can combine assured attacking football with the ‘needs must’ side of the game.
Credit has to go to Hartley and his men for hanging in there as long as they have, and they can lay down a real marker at Motherwell on Saturday.
