In a statement of just two paragraphs on their official club website, Dundee announced the departure of a player who only played once but will forever be remembered by both sets of fans in the city.
Keeper Arvid Schenk was thrown in the deep-end at Tannadice for the New Year’s Day derby after Kyle Letheren got injured in the warm-up.
He went on to concede six goals (albeit he wasn’t to blame for all of them) and never played again.
The statement read: “Goalkeeper Arvid Schenk has this morning left the club at the end of his contract.
“We would like to wish Arvid all the best for the future and thank him for his efforts while at Dens.”
The 25-year-old was signed as short-term cover for Scott Bain when Kyle Letheren was ruled out through injury.
He had spent all of his career in Germany’s lower leagues with St Pauli II and Wolfsburg II, having come through the ranks at Hansa Rostock.
