Dundee stormed back into the top six of the Premiership following this astonishing victory over Ross County at Dens.
Paul Hartley’s side produced a performance full of attacking verve and clinical finishing to secure their first league win since February 12 when they beat St Johnstone.
There was certainly no shortage of entertainment in a cracking first half.
Dundee took the lead in just the seventh minute when they broke from inside their own half with Kane Hemmings passing to Greg Stewart who advanced on goal before cracking a great shot past County keeper Gary Woods from the edge of the box.
Two minutes later, the home side extended their lead when Kevin Holt headed back to Hemmings to calmly slot home from six yards.
The Staggies were stunned but they hit back in the 15th minute when Martin Woods swung a corner in from the left with skipper Andrew Davies bulleting a header past Dundee goalie David Mitchell with the home defence posted missing in action.
The Dark Blues then restored their two-goal advantage in the 38th minute when a Hemmings curler was deflected into the net off the side of Rory Loy’s head.
However, seven minutes later, County hit back once again with Alex Schalk bursting into the Dundee box before calmly cutting back inside and hitting a curling shot which Mitchell got a hand to but could not prevent the ball landing in his net.
Dundee made the better start as the second half began but their lead remained a slender one as the hour mark came and went.
Hemmings looked certain to score in the 75th minute when he got his head to a Stewart free-kick but the ball went just inches wide of Woods’ far post.
However, Dundee finally put the game to bed in the 86th minute.
Stewart hit a shot which was blocked but the ball fell kindly for substitute Craig Wighton who rifled home from seven yards.
The icing was well and truly put on the cake in the second minute of injury time when Stewart twisted and turned, tying the defence in knots before hitting a superb trademark finish past Woods to seal all three points for his side.
