Derek McInnes expects Dundee to be just as tough an opponent for Aberdeen as they proved to be earlier in the season.
The Dons edged the teams’ league encounter at Dens Park in October.
Pittodrie boss McInnes isn’t predicting another five-goal thriller, but he is anticipating that Paul Hartley’s men will make his team fight hard for their place in the next round.
McInnes, whose side beat Partick Thistle on Sunday, said: “Hopefully this is the start of another of those runs.
“Keeping it going away at Dundee will be difficult though.
“We’ve done well in the cups since I arrived. The only tie we have lost was last season’s semi against St Johnstone.
“It’s a tough tie though, and I doubt if Dundee were jumping through hoops either when they heard they got us. It is what it is, so we’ll just get on with it.
“We won down in Dundee earlier in the season. It was a tight game and I expect the cup game to be the same.
“We will have to play extremely well to get through to the next round.”
