Partick Thistle 1 Dundee 1: Dark Blues leave it late to snatch point
ByCraig Smith
Dundee left it late to snatch a point at Firhill as they fought out a 1-1 draw with Partick Thistle.
A goal by James Craigen just before the hour mark looked like it was going to be enough to separate the sides and see the Dark Blues slump to their fourth league loss in succession.
But with the clock ticking towards the 90th minute, substitute Phil Roberts saw his low drive into the box deflected into his own net by Conrad Balatoni.
Thistle’s goal came in the 58th minute as Dundee failed to deal with a Thistle throw-in down the left, with Craigen on hand six yards out to convert Ryan Stevenson’s ball across the face of goal.
However, Roberts blasted the ball into the danger area with just seconds remaining and Balatoni was in the wrong place at the wrong time.
There were a couple of other positives for Paul Hartley’s men as goalkeeper Kyle Letheren started his first game since suffering a knee injury in mid-October, while skipper Kevin Thomson also returned to the fold after his recent hamstring problem in the absence of the suspended Gary Harkins.
