Courier Sport understands that Southampton have not made a bid for the Dark Blues’ teenage striker Craig Wighton.
Reports today suggested that Ronald Koeman’s English Premier League club had tabled a “substantial six-figure” offer for the Scotland Under-17 star after having him watched by their scouts.
However, The Courier has learned that no bid has been made by Southampton for Wighton.
The striker is believed to be on the radar of a host of top clubs with Arsenal just one of those who have had him watched.
The youngster is currently out on loan at Brechin City and made his starting debut at the weekend for Ray McKinnon’s side, producing a fine display with a superb assist for his new club’s second goal in the derby win over Forfar.
Wighton has been farmed out so he can progress his development with regular first-team football at the Glebe.
The Dark Blues’ prize asset had previously appeared seven times for Dundee this season, netting once.
