Kyle Letheren says just as no-one at Dens was getting carried away during their unbeaten start to the season, there is definitely not now talk of a crisis at the club.
The Dark Blues’ fine opening to the campaign came to a crashing halt when they lost to local rivals Dundee United two Sundays ago in the Premiership.
That 4-1 defeat was followed by another to the same opponents in the League Cup, and then they suffered a further loss in the Highlands last week to Ross County.
Letheren and the rest of the Dundee players are looking to put that mini slump behind them this afternoon against an Aberdeen side still hurting after throwing away a two-goal lead in midweek against St Mirren, to only draw.
However, if any added incentive were needed for the Dark Blues to bounce back, it is the fact that a win over the Dons would secure their eagerly-awaited first league win at Dens this season.
The Welsh goalie said: “We have had a few bad results in the last week or so. You have to take the highs and the lows in football.
“Ten days ago we were flying, we were the only unbeaten team in the league and everything was going really well. Three results later and it seems like a crisis but it’s not.
“Aberdeen will be hurting after losing the lead the other night but so are we after the last week or so.
“It’s going to be a tough game because Aberdeen are a good side, but we know on our day we’re well capable of beating anyone.
“We just have to go out there and try to perform to the best of our ability, like we did against Celtic.
“We want to get our first league home win on the board so that’s off our back.
“Getting a home win is important, we don’t want to go too much longer without one.”
While the rest of the Dundee players will no doubt get a rest during next week’s international break, Letheren will once again be away with Wales for their Euro 16 qualifiers against Bosnia-Hercegovina and Cyprus.
He added: “It’s great to be involved in the international squad again.
“It’s something I have wanted for a long time so the challenge is to stay there now.”
