St Mirren 0 Dundee 1: MacDonald strike secures win for Dee
ByIan Roache
A terrific goal from Peter MacDonald 10 minutes from time secured Dundee’s first win of the Premiership season.
The Dark Blues had been coping with persistent pressure from St Mirren when a long ball up the park by defender Thomas Konrad beat the Buddies’ offside trap.
A superb first touch by MacDonald pushed the ball in front of the substitute and he ran on before coolly slotting the ball under the body of home keeper Marian Kello to make it 1-0 to the visitors.
The scoreline was a bit harsh on the hosts, who dominated much of the play but just couldn’t get the finishing touch on their crosses and through balls.
That won’t bother the Dens men, though, who have now made a decent, solid start to life in the top flight and have yet to lose in the league.
Next up is Tuesday night’s home League Cup tie against Raith Rovers.
