Dundee boss Paul Hartley says winning the Championship and promotion to the Premiership would seal an ambition he has harboured ever since starting out in management with Alloa three years ago.
He is also determined to deliver a result he says would be good for Scottish football as a whole.
The manager said: “You’re in the job to hopefully get success. I started the season at Alloa and the aim was to try to stay in the league.
“I left there and the aim was to try to win the league and I want to do that and become a Premiership manager, which is what I set out to do on my first day at Alloa.
“It would be good for the city to get the derby back. United are in a cup final and we’re trying to win the league.
“It would be good for Scottish football and we could be the only derby in the Premiership next season. We’ll try our best to make it happen.”
He added: “The players have trained well all week and the mood in the camp is good. They’re looking forward to it it’s a big game, a good occasion and we know what we need to do.
“Iain Davidson is suspended but the rest are fully fit and focused. The squad have been bright all week, they’ve trained hard and it’s all about Saturday.
“We’ve said to the guys to try to play their normal game rather than play the occasion.
“There will be over 10,000, it will be a great atmosphere and I don’t want them getting caught up in anything.
“All we are asking is that they give it their best shot. We need to concentrate on what we do.
“If we get the proper result then nothing else matters. We have to be focused and it’s about getting their minds on the job.”
