Dundee have announced that Ryan Conroy has left the club by mutual consent.
The 27-year-old, who had spent three years at Dens, was an integral part of the Dark Blues’ Championship-winning squad last season but he was recently told he was not part of manager Paul Hartley’s plans for the forthcoming campaign in the Premiership despite still having a year left on his contract.
Now, the wide midfielder has come to an agreement with Dundee to leave Dens, with Raith Rovers believed to be keen to sign him.
The Dark Blues thanked the player for all his efforts while Conroy himself tweeted: “It has been a pleasure to play with Dundee FC over the last three years. Could not have asked for better team-mates. Sorry to leave.”
There is also believed to be widespread interest in four other Dundee players surplus to requirements by Hartley Steven Doris, Jamie Reid, Kyle Benedictus and Nicky Riley.
Meanwhile, one player who will be staying at Dens is Gary Irvine, who is set to formally accept a one-year contract extension.
Although Irvine will return for at least another season, there is still doubt on whether Kevin McBride will be with the Dark Blues again next term, with talks continuing over a new deal.
