Dundee’s Scott Bain has had to withdraw from the Scotland squad for the upcoming games against Qatar and the Republic of Ireland because of injury.
The 23-year-old earned the call-up from national boss Gordon Strachan thanks to some outstanding performances between the sticks for the Dark Blues this season.
However, he has been suffering from a knee injury that caused him to miss the last three games of the league campaign and has not made sufficient progress to be fit for the international fixtures.
Bain was signed last summer from Alloa by Dens boss Paul Hartley.
The goalie was someone the manager rated highly having snapped him up when he was manager of the Wasps following Bain’s release from Aberdeen in 2011.
