Dundee boss John Brown has been given the go ahead to draft in reinforcements for their promotion push.
The manager met chief executive Scot Gardiner at Dens to discover the funds he will have at his disposal, and Brown is now set to intensify his efforts to strengthen his squad although it is understood there will be no immediate additions.
Former Hearts striker Christian Nade is one of those under consideration however the Dark Blues boss has not had many opportunities to assess the 29-year-old.
Meanwhile, Brown believes Peter MacDonald’s scoring record this season has vindicated his decision to snap up the striker in the summer.
The 33-year-old former Rangers, St Johnstone and Morton star has seized his chance to shine after arriving at Dens Park in July and has scored 13 goals in all competitions so far.
Nobody could be more pleased for the striker than Brown, who reckons his forward is fulfilling his potential this term.
“Peaso has been brilliant for us,” he said.
“A few people raised eyebrows when we signed him, but he’s always been a cracking player. I had him as a kid and then he did well for St Johnstone before injuries got him.
“He was a great servant to them and then at Morton as well. But people probably looked at it and wondered how much he would play.
“But he’s played as many games this season as he played the whole of last year for Morton. He has been a fantastic signing.
“I know him well and like the other boys in their thirties I let them get on with it. It’s about keeping them fresh they know what they need in terms of training.
“They’re fit so we let them tick themselves over so they’re looking forward to playing on a Saturday and treat every game like it’s their last one.
“He’s been a big part of things for us this season. If you get the ball into the box he’ll score goals against anyone.”
