Dundee goalkeeper Scott Bain set to face Celtic

Dundee goalkeeper Scott Bain is poised to play against Celtic despite suffering a nasty shin injury.

Bain was hurt in an accidental clash late on in Saturday’s 5-2 loss to Ross County.

Initially, he was a doubt for Wednesday night’s home game against the Hoops but manager Paul Hartley is now confident he will be in his usual place.

“Scott is a bit sore,” said Hartley.

“He has had a few stitches in his shin and didn’t train.

“But he will be OK and it’s nothing serious.”

Captain Kevin Thompson missed the defeat in Dingwall because of a hamstring problem and he also didn’t train yesterday.

It was the same story with Kane Hemmings, who has a virus, Nicky Low and Thomas Konrad.

Hartley added: “We had a few not training so we will have to monitor them over the next day or so and see how they are.”

Meanwhile, Hartley went through the video of the Ross County game with his players in the hope that they will learn from what amounted to a collapse after what had been a decent performance for most of the match.

The Dark Blues gaffer said: “I didn’t see it coming on Saturday – it was a bit of a freak thing.

“For 55 minutes we were very good but there was a lack of concentration after we scored.

“We have watched the game back a couple of times and have spoken to the players about it.

“It was down to losing focus and there was a 25-minute period where it went wrong.

“We had been really solid against Hamilton but we were not against Ross County.

“Now we’ve got Celtic and having good concentration levels is a must.

“You have to be switched on at all times in games like these.”
