Nicky Low insists the best is yet to come from him in a Dundee shirt after the start to his career at Dens was blighted by injury and illness.
The 23-year-old midfielder did not have his troubles to seek after joining the Dark Blues from Aberdeen in the summer, including being hit by a virus that required hospital treatment.
Now though, he has started the last four games for Paul Hartley’s side and he is determined to kick on once again, beginning this afternoon up in Dingwall against Ross County.
Low said: “It was frustrating for me when I first came here as it was up and down because of injuries and being not well.
“It was just a virus I picked up after the Celtic game. I was in hospital for a couple of days but I am all right now.
“I have been fine for a few weeks now, training every day and I have been playing.
“I feel I am getting my sharpness again so hopefully I can kick on from Saturday’s performance and take it into next week.
“I think the fans have yet to see the best from me but I am getting there now.
“I can see it myself in training and hopefully with more game time, they will see a better player.”
Low is also determined to address the fact he has yet to open his goal-scoring account for Dundee.
He added: “That’s the one thing I have to start doing as a midfielder score more goals.
“The manager has been telling me to get to the back post but at the moment it has just not fallen for me.
“Sometimes there are games where you don’t even get a shot, like last Saturday’s against Hamilton.
“There are other matches where you do get a chance and it is up to you to take it.
“So that’s one thing I am looking to do, to add goals to my overall game.”
Apart from his personal aims, Low is also looking to help Dundee build on last weekend’s hammering of Hamilton by winning again at Ross County to give the Dark Blues back-to-back victories for the first time this season.
He said: “It’s a crazy league but if you look at it without Celtic and Aberdeen, who are flying just now, the league is very tight.
“Anyone can beat anyone else on their day.
“But it would be nice to go and get back-to-back wins for the first time this season.
“It would be great to get a win over Ross County and take that into the Celtic game.
“But it will be a tough match as Ross County are going really well this season.
“Jim McIntyre and Billy Dodds have done a great job since they went there.
“County came to Dens earlier this season and played well. They were 3-1 up but then had a man sent off and we came back into it.
“So we know it will be a hard game up in Dingwall.”
Dundee will be without the injured Julen Etxabeguren while skipper Kevin Thomson and Gary Irvine will have late fitness tests.
