Dundee boss wary of Nacho Novo danger

Nacho Novo has been singled out as a threat when he returns to Dens Park with Morton for this weekend's clash.

Dundee manager John Brown has warned that former Dens frontman Nacho Novo will be one to watch this weekend.

The little Spaniard has joined Morton and will be desperate to do well when the Greenock club host the Dark Blues on Saturday.

Brown has been well briefed about the player by club scout Archie Knox and is prepared to counter the threat posed by Novo.

“Wee Nacho will be wanting to catch the eye in a game against one of his former teams,” Brown said.

“He is always a threat because of his pace, so we have to make sure we monitor everything he does. I have heard that he has been working really hard at Morton.

“At times he has been up front on his own but he has grafted. He has been good at pestering defenders, and that has been the case throughout his career.

“Archie Knox has seen him on a couple of occasions and he reported that even though Nacho has been a lone striker he has still created chances and had one-on-ones with goalkeepers.

“We will have to make sure we take care of that threat because you can’t take any game for granted in this league. When Morton were here they took a lead against us but we managed to turn that around in the second half.

“Cappielow is also a tight pitch, similar to that at Cowdenbeath. They will put men behind the ball and make themselves difficult to break down.”
