There was an extra cheer after the final whistle at Dens on Saturday when the stadium announcer revealed that Championship leaders Hamilton had been held to a draw by Raith Rovers.
That result, allied to Dundee’s 2-1 victory over Queen of the South their fourth win on the bounce meant that the Dark Blues had closed the gap on Accies to just one point.
However, Dundee’s Peter MacDonald, who scored the vital breakthrough goal on Saturday the 32-year-old’s eighth of the season so far insists that the players at Dens are fully focused on what they are doing, not what is happening with Hamilton.
That will not change when they travel to face a rejuvenated Livingston side this week while Accies take on fourth-placed Falkirk at home.
Instead, Dundee are simply determined to make October a month to remember.
MacDonald said: “We are not thinking about Hamilton, we are just concentrating on ourselves.
“We did not know their score at half-time or even full-time until somebody came in 20 minutes later and said Hamilton had drawn.
“We just take each game as it comes, concentrate on Dundee and picking up points. We will try to get five wins this month and if we can it will be a huge bonus.”
