Dundee boss Paul Hartley has confirmed there has been no Chinese approach for striker Kane Hemmings.
Hartley urged the English frontman to ignore transfer speculation and continue to bang in the goals, hopefully adding to his tally of 18 when the Dark Blues battle it out with Dumbarton in a William Hill Scottish Cup replay at Dens Park tonight for the prize of a quarter-final place against Rangers.
Hemmings has reportedly been interesting League Two side Beijing Renhe and could be on a slow boat or flight to China if they make an offer for him.
However, Hartley said: “That’s all new to me.
“I found out yesterday (about the story) but there’s been no contact whatsoever.
“We can’t stop speculation but we want to keep our best players at the club.
“I don’t know what Hemmings would be worth.
“He’s got two-and-half years left on his contract and he is happy here.
“We don’t need to sell anyone. We’re not in a rush to do so.
“We haven’t even spoken about anything and I think he’s just got to continue playing well.
“He has been playing well for us and scoring goals and, if you are a striker doing those things, you are always going to get linked with moves.
“But as far as we’re concerned it’s just speculation.”
Nevertheless, Hartley has noted with interest the upturn in activity and spending power from the country with the world’s second largest economy.
“I just think that it’s the new thing now,” he said.
“China has definitely changed because of the financial clout.
“There are more and more players going there.”
