Paul McGowan admits Saturday’s shattering defeat in the quarter-final of the Scottish Cup is going to hurt the Dundee players for a long time to come. The Dark Blues travelled to Ibrox quietly confident that they could secure a result against the Championship pace-setters. Instead, they were undone by goals at the start of each half with Mark Warburton’s side ultimately coasting to victory, netting twice more. The win was as emphatic as it gets, with McGowan admitting the Dundee players let themselves down in a game that was also televised live on Sky. When asked if his overwhelming feeling was one of frustration, the midfielder said: “Yes, as what an opportunity it was to get into a semi-final. “I know how good we can be so it was just so disappointing and frustrating more than anything. “It is one that is going to hurt the boys for a long time. “These are the sort of places where you want to come and play, to show how good we are. “But we haven’t done that and live on TV as well. “So it is bitterly disappointing.”
