Dundee will take confidence from derby win, says Houston

Former Dundee United manager Peter Houston believes his old club’s city rivals will be bouyed by their weekend derby victory.
Houston, who watched the 2-1 win for Paul Hartley’s men at Dens Park, brings his high-flying Falkirk side to Tayside on Scottish Cup business on Saturday.
The 2010 cup-winning Tannadice boss said: “Dundee were under the cosh in the first-half. I thought Dundee United played really well in the first-half and could maybe have added to their one-goal lead.
“And it was a poor goal that got Dundee back in the game at 1-1 just before half-time.
“In the second-half, going down the hill at Dens, Dundee are always a threat and they got the goal, but it was never going to be a goal before the deflection.
“They’ll still be delighted because derby matches are big matches and the punters love them. The atmosphere was great at the game, it was a fantastic atmosphere, and that will give them a huge lift.
“They don’t, in my time knowing Dundee, win an awful lot of derbies but they’ll take great confidence from winning at the weekend.”
