Big blow for Dundee with Greg Stewart facing derby ban
ByNeil Robertson
Dundee have been dealt a big blow with the news that Greg Stewart is set to miss the January 2 derby with Dundee United through suspension.
The 25-year-old, who netted one of the Dark Blues’ four goals against Hamilton on Saturday at Dens, was also booked in the second half of the game by referee Don Robertson.
It was the former Cowdenbeath striker’s sixth caution of the season which automatically means he now incurs a one-match ban.
The SFA confirmed yesterday that will have to be served from January 2, meaning Stewart will sit out the derby.
The front man is, of course, a key man for Dundee boss Paul Hartley’s side and he has netted six times in total this season.
One of those goals came against United in the first meeting between the teams in August at Tannadice.
