Dundee manager Paul Hartley is relishing the prospect of a derby on Wednesday night as his side look to maintain a push for a top-six spot.
Dundee welcome city rivals United to Dens Park and Hartley believes it will be a massive game for his side.
Doubts will persist over James McPake, David Clarkson and Greg Stewart until assessed by the Dark Blues’ medical staff but, as with any other derby game, external factors go out of the window.
Jackie McNamara’s side were 6-2 victors in the last tussle between the two sides on New Year’s Day but thoughts of that game will not arise in the Dundee dressing room.
“It’s not something we tend to mention and, as a group and a manager, we tend to forget about these things,” Hartley said.
“We don’t dwell on the past. Wednesday will be massive and it’s a big game for us.
“It’s a game we want to do well in and I’m sure it will be a good atmosphere.
“I don’t think their run of form comes into it.
“Derbies are a different style of game and it’s a game that’s more about hard work and battling.”
Inverness boss John Hughes believes it will remain tight in the top six right until the end of the season.
Saturday’s point pushes Inverness further towards their goal of European football and United’s poor form means the impetus is with Caley Thistle to secure continental qualification.
“It’s going to be nip and tuck until the end of the season,” said Hughes. “This is a point that might take us where we want to be.
“I’m really looking forward to what’s coming up.
“We’ve got Celtic three times, Dundee United twice and Aberdeen twice to come. I’m confident we can give as good as we get.”
