John Brown warns players to be aware of Cowdenbeath threat

Dundee boss John Brown has declared himself pleased with his side’s last two performances but has warned they cannot afford to rest on their laurels.

The Dark Blues took plenty of positives from the defeat against Premiership pace-setters Inverness in the League Cup last Tuesday and then came from behind to comprehensively defeat Morton at the weekend.

Now, they will look to turn up the heat on championship leaders Hamilton this Saturday by picking up another three points when they travel to Central Park to face Cowdenbeath.

However, Brown has warned his players that they will be facing a Blue Brazil side with more than a few points to prove to their manager Colin Cameron after slumping to a 5-1 defeat at Livingston last week.

The Dens boss said: “We have had a good reaction from the players in the last couple of games.

“Even although we were beaten by Inverness, we took a lot of confidence out of the game with the way we played.

“I thought against Morton, we were different class. We were unlucky to go in 1-0 down at half-time. People go on about what did you say to get a reaction but I just told them to keep doing what they had been doing.

“But we now have tough games coming up at Cowdenbeath and Dumbarton.

“Cowdenbeath had a bad result at the weekend and they will be looking to make amends for their manager. Colin has too much professional pride not to react to a result like that and his players will be the same.”

Meanwhile, teenage striker Craig Wighton has returned to the Dundee squad after starring for the Scotland Under-17s last week.
