Dundee have today confirmed the signing of midfielder Stephen Hughes until the end of the season.
The 31-year-old playmaker has joined the Dens Park club on a permanent deal after turning down a new contract offer at East Fife, and will go straight into the squad for this weekend’s top of the table clash at home to Hamilton.
Hughes, who started his career as a youngster at Rangers, spent three-and-a-half seasons at Ibrox before moving south to play for Leicester City.
He returned north of the border in 2007 to join Motherwell before going back to England to play with Norwich City two years later.
A spell at MK Dons on loan followed and he re-joined Motherwell for a short spell at the end of 2011 before joining Aberdeen in January 2012.
Hughes, who also has a Scotland cap to his name, latterly played at East Fife following his release from Pittodrie but has opted to reject a deal offered to him by Fifers’ boss Gary Naysmith to sign for the Dark Blues.
