Dundee boss Paul Hartley candidly admits that when the Dark Blues are victorious, his overwhelming feeling is one of relief rather than joy.
The Dens Park faithful were in raptures on Saturday as their side ended a long winless run by hammering Hamilton Accies 4-0, a result that propelled Dundee back into the top six.
The fans are probably still basking in the warm afterglow of that victory however for the manager it is simply a case of immediately refocusing on the next game against Ross County on Boxing Day.
Hartley said: “I think just in general being a manager now is a tough job.
“There’s always a different manager who has to put up with the pressure.
“But that’s why we’re in the job. We understand that before we take it.
“I think nowadays when you win a game it’s more a sense of relief than enjoyment.
“I wouldn’t say I enjoy it because right away you are then trying to build towards the next game.
He added: “When you’re winning games of football, you’re the best thing since sliced bread.
“And when you’re losing, you’re the worst manager in the world.
“After winning 4-0 like we did, I would just say to myself that’s a good result.
“But the key thing is not to think about it too much.
“It makes your Saturday a little bit better and maybe your Sunday but on the Monday you are then starting to focus on the next game.
“I wouldn’t say it’s an enjoyment thing.
“We sit with the medical team and talk about who’s injured and who has got a chance to make it for the following week.
“We look at all the reports from the scout for the following week.
“It’s not about thinking how good your day has just been.
“I just think if you get a win it’s brilliant but you put it away quickly.”
Meanwhile, Hartley has expressed his disappointment that Greg Stewart will miss the January 2 derby with Dundee United.
The striker picked up his sixth caution of the campaign against Hamilton on Saturday and has incurred a suspension which he will serve when the Tangerines first-foot at Dens.
Hartley said: “I knew that booking would put Greg out of the derby.
“I’ve got all the stats on my board.
“I thought it was a harsh yellow card as I felt he slipped.
“It’s disappointing for us, the player and the supporters.
“But it happens and now we have to cope without one of our leading players.
“It will give someone else the opportunity to come in when they’re ready and we’ve got good attacking options.
“We’ve got Greg for the next couple of games so hopefully we can make the most of him.”
