Dundee boss John Brown is looking for his side to capitalise on their morale-boosting victory over Championship leaders Hamilton last weekend when they face Raith Rovers in the William Hill Scottish Cup at Dens this Saturday.
While the Dark Blues were winning 3-0 at New Douglas Park, Rovers were ending a two-game losing run by coming from behind to beat Queen of the South, thanks to a double from Calum Elliot, who previously had a spell on loan at Dens.
One of the Kirkcaldy side’s recent defeats came at Dens three weeks ago when they lost against Brown’s men.
However, the Dundee gaffer is definitely not taking anything for granted this time round, especially as he is looking for his side to go on a long run in the cup.
He said: “Raith had a couple of wee hiccups but they fought back well to get a late winner on Saturday.
“They are a fine team but we have a good record here. It is a break from the league but we are determined to get a run in the Scottish Cup.
“We played them a couple of weeks ago and we were fortunate to win the game with them down to 10 men. I am sure it will be another tough match but I am just happy we have got a home tie.
“We have also picked up a big confidence boost from Saturday’s result. So you have two teams going into the match on the back of two good victories so it should be a really competitive game.
“Sometimes the style of football is not the most important thing when you are trying to win a cup tie but if we can show the same attitude we displayed on Saturday, we should do well.”
