Dundee boss tells disgruntled fans: ‘It’s all to play for’

Dundee boss John Brown insists there is no need for panic at Dens Park despite Saturday’s defeat to Falkirk dropping them to second in the table.

Falkirk’s 2-0 win saw the Bairns replace the Dark Blues on top of the Championship by virtue of goal difference, but Bomber believes now is not the time for any knee-jerk reactions and looks set to resist the temptation to delve further into the transfer market before the window shuts at the end of the week.

“There will not be any additions,” he said. “What we’ve got now we’ll be finishing the season with and there will not be too many going out on loan this week if any.

“We’re at the stage of the season where we’ve got 15 games to go and we’re joint top of the league, so it’s all to play for. It’s about getting a reaction in the next game.

“What I would say is, for as disappointed as we are about the result on Saturday, we’re joint top of the league and we shouldn’t mull over Saturday’s performance too much.

“Falkirk are a decent side and we never had enough that turned up. But I’ve said to the players that you get opportunities in life to achieve things and it’s still a massive position that we’re in,” said Brown.

“You are talking goal difference to a team that everybody is praising and we’re on the same points, so taking that into account I think over the season we’ve done really well.

“In periods of the season you are going to get blips and we’re going through that just now. I think it’s the first back-to-back defeats we’ve had this season but the quicker we get out of it the better.

“We’ve got a couple of home games coming up and these are crucial games for us to kick on again. It’s all to play for.”
