Gary Harkins is edging towards staying at Dundee, Courier Sport can reveal.
The Dark Blues’ star man re-signed from Kilmarnock in January, and produced several man-of-the-match performances as the Dens Park club staved off relegation until the third last week of the season.
The playmaker signed a three-year contract, but has a clause in his deal which means he can leave for nothing this summer if he so chooses.
There is SPL interest in Harkins, but Courier Sport understands the former Partick Thistle player has decided that staying with Dundee is his first choice.
A meeting is set to take place later this week with the club, before Harkins heads to America on a coaching trip.
It is also believed that Harkins is keeping a close eye on the potential takeover of Dundee and he would have no qualms about dropping into the First Division for a season if he thought new investment was about to come into Dens.
