Dundee’s Ryan Conroy insists his boss John Brown is fully deserving of the SPL manager of the month award for April after masterminding the Dark Blues’ remarkable recent revival.
Conroy scored the only goal against Hearts last weekend to give his side their third win in a row, a victory that ensured their survival fight continued for at least another week.
There were few willing to bet on Dundee staying up a few short weeks ago but, since Brown arrived at the club, they have managed to chip away at the points gap and are now just eight behind second bottom St Mirren, albeit with only three games remaining.
Conroy said: “It’s been incredible. Nobody really gave us a chance of getting to within touching distance of St Mirren but we have.
“A lot of that is down to the gaffer and how he’s got the best out of us since he came in. He thoroughly deserves his manager of the month award so it would be great for him and the club as well to keep the fight going for another week at least.
“We have loads of character in the dressing-room, which will ensure we’ll never give up on anything. I wouldn’t like to be in St Mirren’s shoes going to Tynecastle on Saturday and we’ll be able to relax for 24 hours and see how they get on before playing Aberdeen on Sunday.”
Like most of the Dundee players, Conroy is out of contract at the end of the season but insists he is fully focused on this campaign.
He said: “That will be dealt with when the time comes. Once everything is settled at the end of the season, we can discuss things but not before.
“There’s too much still at stake to let anything else get in the way of it.”
