Dundee continue their build-up for the new season with a friendly at Clyde tonight, with boss John Brown looking for another step up in performance from his players.
The Dark Blues ran out 1-0 winners against Forfar on Saturday thanks to a first-half Carlo Monti goal.
Brown is now set to change his starting line-up against the Bully Wee this evening but former Celtic striker Monti will be given another chance to impress alongside fellow recent signing Steven Doris.
The manager is running the rule over his entire squad to assess how they are coping as he looks to firm up his first-choice starting XI.
Brown said: “At Forfar at the weekend, I thought our movement in the first half was excellent. The main thing though was getting everyone game time and bringing the fitness levels up.
“I will be looking to mix things up again at Clyde. I will be leaving Gavin Rae out after he played the full 90 at the weekend. Peter MacDonald will also probably sit on the bench to give Steven Doris a start.”
He added: “I want to see him and I want to continue with Carlo Monti, who has shown a lot of quality.
“I will also be looking to encourage Jim McAlister to get forward more. He is a versatile player who can play centre-mid, holding-mid and out wide.
“He gives us great options, but I think he has an eye for goal and he is a threat.
“So we will be going to Clyde making sure we approach the game in the right manner and tempo.”
Brown added: “You have to remember that the games so far have been on the back of a lot of hard sessions.
“We have been putting in a lot of good football time and then playing games to see how the lads react. Can they keep standards up when their bodies are struggling?”
Brown secured the signature of former Hamilton player Thomas Carberry at the weekend, with the 16-year-old attacker impressing when he came on in the second half at Forfar.
Brown said: “Carberry has the potential to be a very good player. He is mainly a striker, but I think he could offer something in the middle of the park.
“He has a lot of energy and quality about him. “He will definitely add something to our group.”
