Dundee United boss Jackie McNamara is convinced that once his side find a vital cutting edge they will quickly regain the winning habit.
The Tangerines have endured a disappointing start to the new Premiership campaign, with only two points out of a possible six on the board.
United could and should have taken all three points at Easter Road last Saturday but McNamara believes that once his players start converting at least some of the opportunities they are creating, they will receive their reward in terms of victories.
He said: “That is the difference, that thin line. We created chances in the first game at Firhill and at Easter Road on Saturday.
“The second game against Inverness was obviously disappointing in terms of performance and the lack of opportunities we created but we could still have sneaked a draw in the end.
“It is all about winning games though and we haven’t managed to do that so far. However, if we keep doing what we are doing, then the results will come.”
McNamara also took time to praise the contribution of some of his younger players who are providing real competition for places, including Ryan Gauld who made a fine cameo appearance from the bench against Hibs.
The manager said: “The wee man has been excellent. His attitude and everything else has been spot on and he has a massive future. His decision-making is great.
“Teams may not know a lot about him or some of the other younger lads like Ryan Dow who I thought was excellent on Saturday.
“That’s what we need competition from players who are really on their game.”
