Dundee United missed the chance to climb the Premiership table after being held to a 1-1 draw by St Mirren.
The Tangerines had the opportunity to move up into third spot if they had won in Paisley, but it was very much a case of two points dropped as they remain behind Inverness in the standings.
United made four changes from the team that played Hamilton last time out.
Keith Watson, Paul Paton, John Rankin and Chris Erskine all started, with Charlie Telfer, Blair Spittal, Calum Butcher and Aidan Connolly dropping out of the side that edged out Hamilton.
Gary Mackay-Steven also started his first game since it was announced he had signed a pre-contract with Celtic, while Stuart Armstrong, also the subject of interest from the Hoops, was similarly in the starting 11.
Both sides had decent chances in the opening half hour but the hosts grabbed the advantage in 39 minutes.
Kenny McLean latched on to a Yoann Arquin head flick and deftly touched the ball over Conor Townsend before slotting home the opener.
That lead lasted only four minutes though as Ciftci picked out Armstrong at the edge of the area and he swivelled and shot beyond Saints’ keeper Mark Ridgers.
New Estonian striker Henri Anier was handed his first appearance as a substitute for the last half an hour or so, but he could not make an immediate impact.
Indeed, the hosts finished strongly and only a saving challenge by Keith Watson in the closing 10 minutes prevented McLean from netting a second.
Nadir Ciftci saw a late header fly inches over the bar in the final minute, but both teams had to settle for a point.
