Dundee United starlet is on the verge of a stunning transfer to Portugese giants Sporting Lisbon.
The Champions League regulars have agreed a fee with the Tannadice club for the teenager which will amount to £3m plus add-ons.
Gauld will fly out to Lisbon with his agent today to discuss personal terms.
Gauld is one of Scotland’s finest young talents and has been dubbed Mini Messi by his team-mates.
Many European clubs have shown an interest over the last few months but Sporting have come up with the first bid acceptable to United.
If the deal is completed, Gauld will follow a long line of football greats to have played for Sporting, including none other than World Player of the Year, Cristiano Ronaldo.
