Dundee United skipper Sean Dillon is certain the club can cope following the departure of Stuart Armstrong and Gary Mackay-Steven to Celtic.
Dillon has seen plenty of others come and go since he joined the Tangerines in January, 2007.
Pundits have often predicted in recent seasons that United would struggle after the departures of star men such as David Goodwillie, Craig Conway, Johnny Russell, Andy Robertson and Ryan Gauld.
Yet, the club always seems to overcome the losses and Dillon is hoping that will be the case again now that Mackay-Steven and Armstrong are away.
The popular Irishman said: “It’s always a blow when you lose good players and the boys are good players.
“I’ve been at this club to see plenty of talent leave on a regular basis.
“But I’ve been lucky with the managers we’ve had here, with the scouting network. There’s also Stevie Campbell and Davie Bowman in the youth department bringing kids through so thankfully the players who have left have been replaced.
“Everyone will have their own opinion as to how well they have been replaced with certain players.
“But we have been quite lucky and hopefully that will continue.”
Dillon knows that Celtic have signed two talented and skilful players in Mackay-Steven and Armstrong and he revealed that the latter is not the quiet lad he sometimes comes across as in interviews.
He added: “Stuart is up there with the best of them and everyone knows he has ability.
“He has so many strengths. He has a lot going for him, physically he’s strong and his turn of pace is scary.
“He’s an intelligent guy off the pitch, he’s developed and learned a lot in the last few years.
“Stuart’s chatty off the pitch and he’s a nice fella. I’ve been here since he first came to the club. He was quiet back then but every player is quiet when they first come in especially at a young age.
“Stuart’s bubbly and likes to have a bit of crack. When he’s facing the press he’s a bit more laid back.
“I wouldn’t dare say that he’s a quiet guy as he’s not. He likes the crack especially when he has the lads about him.”
