Dundee United striker Nadir Ciftci is being backed to beat last season’s goals tally.
The talented Turk smashed home 17 goals for the Tangerines during a campaign that really established him as one of the Premirship’s top attacking talents.
Ciftci had to wait until last Saturday to get off the mark this term, nodding home United’s first goal in their 2-1 win over Ross County at Tannadice.
Now that he is up and running, coach Darren Jackson believes Ciftci can improve on what he achieved last time around.
“Nads will hopefully be looking to better last season’s goal tally,” said Jackson. “He could have gotten in the 20s and that’s what we are looking for from a player like him.
“He could be scoring that amount of goals, given the ability he has. As a former striker myself, I would say that when you get one goal your confidence really goes up.
“Nads thinks he can score from anywhere on the park and it’s great to see him get off the mark.”
