Dundee United are still optimistic that their travelling support at Ibrox for next week’s Scottish Cup semi-final will top 11,000.
That’s despite the fact the amount already sold has fallen back from the mark they thought they had reached a few days ago.
The current total is over 10,500, after it transpired that a significant number of supporters double-booked tickets.
United director Derek Robertson explained: “Some of the orders have been duplicated, with people buying in bulk for friends. This was inevitable because of the way we had to sell the tickets.
“In the end, I think there will be about 11,000 tickets sold, if not more.
“This will be the biggest ever Dundee United support taken to a Scottish Cup semi-final outwith the city.”
The clock is now ticking for fans to get their tickets, before United tell the SFA that they do not need any more.
Robertson added: “The message I would send out is if you want to go, make sure you buy one today or tomorrow.”
He added that people who were only interested in £15 adult and £5 concession tickets should go back to the shop to see if any have been freed up after duplicates were returned.
