Dundee United fans will be cheering on former player Johnny Russell in the English Premiership play-off final at Wembley today.
Not only does Russell remain a firm favourite among the Tannadice faithful but if his team Derby County beat Queens Park Rangers the Tangerines will be entitled to a cash windfall.
A clause in the deal that took the striker to Pride Park last year could net the Tangerines a bonus in the region of £250,000.
Derby wouldn’t be too bothered about sending the cash north, however, given that success in this fixture is estimated to be worth around £100 million.
Meanwhile, United loan signing target Curtis Good still hopes to be heading to Brazil despite being ruled out of Australia’s World Cup warm-up match against South Africa.
It was hoped the Newcastle central defender, who the Tangerines want back for next season, would play in the Socceroos’ farewell fixture at the ANZ Stadium in Sydney on Monday before flying out.
Australian national coach Ange Postecoglou confirmed Good’s bad news but kept the door open to the finals.
The 21-year-old, who injured his hip when making his debut for his country back in March, has been named in the initial 30-man squad but the pool of players will have to eventually be reduced to 23.
