It’s the “Jambos for Ando” with Hearts providing the opposition for the showpiece occasion of long-serving St Johnstone star Steven Anderson’s testimonial year.
Boss Tommy Wright and his counterpart Robbie Neilson have urged fans of both clubs to turn out in big numbers at the match to pay tribute to one of Saints’ Scottish Cup heroes.
The game will take place at McDiarmid Park on Sunday August 3 with a 3pm kick-off.
St Johnstone manager Tommy Wright said: “I am delighted we have got a big club like Hearts for Steven’s testimonial game and I am hoping that both sets of supporters will turn out and give him the support he deserves.”
Hearts finally came out of administration on Wednesday and Neilson said: “We were delighted to be asked to play in the testimonial for Steven.
“He’s a great professional and all credit to him for staying with St Johnstone for so long. He always gives 100% as a player and did tremendously well in his partnership with Frazer Wright over the years, enjoying European football and a Scottish Cup win.
“This honour is thoroughly deserved. It will be an ideal match for us the week before the Championship season begins and hopefully a good crowd turns out to support Steven.”
